For the vast majority of employers the requirement for an employee to be a first aider is to either hold the Emergency First Aid at Work (6 hours) or the First Aid at Work (18 hours). We can also offer First Aid at Work + Forestry (FAW+F).

Upon completing the FAW you will be able to:

  1. Understanding the roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  2. Be able to assess an incident
  3. Identify the signs, symptons and history of a casualty
  4. Be able to manage a casualty who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally
  5. Be able to provide first aid to an unsreponsive and breathing normally casualty
  6. Be able to manage a casualty who is in seizure
  7. Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  8. Manage a casualty with external bleeding
  9. Manage a casualty who is in shock
  10. Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury
  11. Understand how to manage a casualty with minor burns and scalds
  12. Be able to administer first aid to casualty with injury to bones, muscles and joints
  13. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected head or spinal injury
  14. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected chest injury
  15. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
  16. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
  17. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
  18. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
  19. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected major illness
